A new kind of Literacy: Digital literacy
Our world is not the same as it was 10 years ago and never will be for we live in a society that is forever developing. Children know their way around technology as though it's a second language and that is why it is crucial for teachers to educate students how to responsibly utilise technology so they are able to effectively analyse and interpret a variety of texts, communicate effectively with the world around them, and become proficient problem solvers.
BoomWriter is a fantastic program that assists in children developing and practicing Digital Literacy. As it allows students to practice and enhance their reading, writing, and reviewing skills whilst engaging students on a whole new level of creative writing (stories, how to, about me, informational books) whether individually or collaboratively with their peers. |
BoomWriter encourages overachieving learners to strive to set new goals whilst encourages those who struggle to reach their full potential and exceed new standards.
Below is published demonstration of a BoomWriter story by the creator of A Dirary of a Wimpy Kid, Jeff Kinney. TeachNetBlog, also shares their review in regards to their experience using BoomWriter, where they tell of how it can be well utilised as a learning support program which can be easily adjusted into a variety of literacy activities |
